The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is a good first step in addressing the structural racism permeating the criminal justice system from interactions with the police through incarceration and beyond. Its failure to eliminate pretext traffic stops, which is how most people of color come in contact with police must be corrected. On the state level, Oregon must enact compensation for those wrongly convicted.

Rebalancing the Supreme Court is Necessary to Protect Our Democracy
The recently introduced Judiciary Act of 2021 expands the Supreme Court from 9 to 13 members--one for each federal circuit--which is how it was originally constituted. It also eliminates the ultra-conservative, illegitimately achieved supermajority. We must do everything in our power to get this legislation passed.
