Pass DC Statehood and the George Floyd Act

Background
We believe that everyone should have a right to vote regardless of their zip code. That includes Washington, DC, whose 712,000 residents have no vote in Congress. The DC Admissions Act (HR 51) will not only grant Washingtonians one representative and two senators, but control over their local government. We need to add our voices in support and press the Senate to make this bill a law.
We also believe that all people should live in communities that are safe from crime and from lawless police. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act will force a reckoning in local systems that keep shielding police who brutalize and kill people. Biden is putting his political weight behind the bill. We need to add our voices in support.
Neither bill will pass without getting rid of the filibuster. We cannot give in to fatalism. We must fight for change. Call our Members of Congress. Tell them that DC statehood and police reform matter. Get rid of the filibuster and do their job.
1. Call the Senate.

My name is [--] and I'm a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].
The Senate has a growing list of ground-breaking legislation that requires ending the filibuster in order to pass. Today, I am calling about two: the DC statehood bill (HR 51), which hopefully will pass the House today, and the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. I appreciate your fight to abolish the filibuster. I am with you 100%. As you said, “No excuses. Senate, do your job.” Bring these bills to the floor and get rid of the filibuster to pass them. Thank you.

It’s time to pass DC statehood legislation and the George Floyd Justice In Policing Act. There is no reasonable justification for continuing to disenfranchise the residents of our capital, or for refusing to change policing when it so obviously needs reform. Pass these bills.
2. Call the House.
