FRIDAY RECAP: September 23, 2022
Every week, the differences between Republican and Democrat visions of government, and it’s impact on people, become more stark. Republicans are showing what they don’t want our future to be by blocking or filibustering Democrats’ proposals on strengthening voting rights, ending gerrymandering, banning assault weapons and more. Their sharpest picture for a Republican future is captured in the abortion ruling from the extremist Supreme Court. And while Republicans are shaping a future to protect rich white men, Biden was full on supporting democracy and freedom from oppression in Ukraine. This is just one week’s picture of the day after the election, so get to work to defend democracy.
Tuesday - ONLY DEMOCRATS SHARE OUR VISION OF A JUST AND DEMOCRATIC FUTURE
Democrats were unable to the pass bills Americans want and need because they fell victim to the Senate filibuster. To create a just and democratic future, we must elect more Senate Democrats committed to eliminating the filibuster and increase the House Democratic majority. For the next two months, we, and our Members of Congress, must work tirelessly to get out the vote—phone banking, canvassing, letter- and postcard-writing—while also reminding our friends and neighbors that only Democrats can deliver the future we deserve. Wednesday - ABORTION, AND GOVERNMENT BY THE MINORITY
The Supreme Court is unwinding the America we know. It has already unleashed abortion bans across the country. But this ultra-conservative court is far from done. Beginning in October, the Justices will hear cases challenging partisan redistricting, threats to free speech, a challenge to the Anti-Discrimination Act and more. We must find the strength to keep fighting for our democracy. Join any one of the thousands of groups across the country to fight for our way of life. Check out Wednesday’s DA.
THURSDAY - BIDEN DESERVES CREDIT FOR UKRANIAN POLICY
President Biden's foreign policies, particularly about Ukraine, have been highly successful even though he does not always receive credit for them. Read Thursday’s DA. Then call.
