BIDEN DESERVES CREDIT FOR UKRANIAN POLICY

President Bidens does not receive sufficient accolades for his highly effective foreign policy and defense of democracy abroad.

QUICK READ: President Biden's foreign policies, particularly about Ukraine, have been highly successful even though he does not always receive credit for them.

BACKGROUND

In an election year, it is not surprising that the press has focused on President Biden’s domestic successes that will rebuild domestic infrastructure, reduce medical costs, and promote effective climate policies.

What the media has overlooked or understated has been Biden’s significant accomplishments in foreign affairs.

When almost 75% of the world’s population lives under authoritarian regimes, he has spoken out vigorously against dictators from North Korea to Brazil and authorized billion in defensive weapons to Taiwan.

His most significant accomplishments have been in Ukraine. An outspoken defender of Ukraine’s democratically elected government at the United Nations and across the globe, he has organized the international community behind President Zelensky. The US and our NATO allies, sometimes under pressure from Biden, have provided Javelin anti-tank missiles, howitzers and the heralded HIMAR mobile rocket launches, which have turned the tide on the battlefield.

While the United States has sent billions of dollars in advanced weapons and warned Putin about using nuclear weapons, he has prudently resisted Zelensky‘s call for long-range missiles, which could expand the conflict and precipitate World War III.
