Trump’s Project 2025 Viciously Attacks Workers’ Rights
QUICK READ: Trump’s Project 2025 will ruthlessly destroy the ability of millions of workers in both the private and public sectors to feel safe in their workplaces, to continue improving their earning capacity, and to care for their families. His agenda also calls for raising the retirement age for Social Security, which effectively cuts benefits. Trump’s claim he has anything to do with Project 2025 is nothing but a lie to protect his campaign from wide-scale backlash as citizens learn the details of this mean-spirited reactionary project.

BACKGROUND
We’ve all heard how Trump’s Project 2025 calls for the mass deportation of millions of immigrants, persecution of his political rivals, loss of reproductive freedom, significant tax cuts for billionaires, and using the military to suppress domestic dissent.
We’re less aware of its draconian assault on the rights of workers and their families—all so Trump’s billionaire friends can maximize their profits:
Banning unions at both federal and state levels;
Gutting the federal civil service, replacing merit-based employees with political cronies
Cutting their retirement benefits and eliminating the Federal Service Loan Forgiveness Program that provides student debt forgiveness for public service workers;
Making it easier to fire workers and to eliminate overtime pay;
Allowing small business to violate OSHA’s worker safety laws with impunity;
Eliminating federal child labor protections, allowing minors to work in dangerous workplaces;
Ignoring the federal minimum wage;
Sabotaging the EEOC, allowing employers to discriminate based on people’s identities;
Privatizing unemployment insurance programs;
Cutting funding for local job-creating programs;
Cutting social security benefits by raising the retirement age.
Trump’s Project 2025’s increased taxes on working families and repeal of the bipartisan infrastructure law would leave workers with less money and fewer job opportunities, while ending Head Start would make it harder for parents without day care to work.

Between now and November, you must use your bully pulpit to bring to voters’ attention how Trump’s Project 2025 will negatively impact workers and their families. You must also be vigilant to ensure that none of these policies are enshrined in either the 2025 budget bill or the continuing resolution Congress must pass to avoid a government shutdown.
