Back Biden’s Budget
Jump to today’s actions:
Background
“Don’t tell me what you value; show me your budget, and I’ll tell you what you value.” -- President Biden
Biden’s budget tells us what he values: reducing poverty and racial inequality, addressing the climate crisis; and helping working families.
While Congress writes the actual budget, Biden has given Democrats political cover to be brave. Our job is to press our MoCs to follow Biden’s bold lead, use the 51-vote reconciliation process, and don’t waste time seeking ten non-existent Republicans yes votes.
Biden’s budget includes the already-introduced $2T American Jobs Plan, the $1.8T American Families Plan and:
-- a 16% increase in spending to: improve high-poverty schools and the immigration system; prevent the next public health crisis; tackle climate crisis, the opioid epidemic, gun violence, intractable diseases, affordable housing, and more.
-- no Hyde Amendment that bans abortion funding.
It’s not perfect: student debt forgiveness and health care reform didn’t make the cut. But it's so much better than any budget we have seen in a long, long time.
McConnell said that he is “100%” focused on “stopping” Biden and Republicans support McConnell. Democrats can’t let them. They must pass a budget that reflects Biden’s -- and our -- values before it’s too late.

My name is [--] and I'm a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].
I am delighted to register my strong support for President Biden’s budget. There is so much Biden’s budget that we need, including the financial plan to address climate change; support for families, workers, children and the elderly; and basic restoration of funding for programs that have suffered budget cuts for too long. I also support the elimination of the Hyde Amendment which prohibits federal funds from supporting abortion services. I ask you work to incorporate all of Biden’s budget into the final congressional budget - abolish the filibuster or use reconciliation to get this done.
