Background

The Supreme Court makes decisions that affect us all. We deserve justices whose decisions are based on Constitutional law, free from conflicts of interest.

The nine justices of the Supreme Court are the only judges in the United States not bound by a code of ethical conduct. The For the People Act addresses this.

As outlined by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse during Justice Amy Coney Barret’s hearing

Justices are chosen by the corporate-funded Federalist Society.
Dark money organizations advance their agenda by bringing cases before the Supreme Court while other dark money organizations file briefs in support, instructing the Supreme Court how to rule.
This system has resulted in 80 partisan victories for their cause.

Over the last twenty years, Supreme Court Justices have participated in activities forbidden to other federal judges – taking part in partisan fundraisers, making partisan comments, failing to recuse themselves where conflicts of interest exist. The public is losing confidence and trust in the Supreme Court.

The For the People Act enacts a much-needed code of ethics for the Supreme Court. Ethics in government is needed for the public to have faith. Join us to help Congress to pass the For the People Act.
