FUNDING CANDIDATES WHO WILL WORK FOR THE PEOPLE
Jump to today’s actions:
Background
We deserve to have our voices heard in government. We deserve inclusive access to free and fair elections and elected officials who work for the common good. Years of the GOP favoring our adversaries over our allies, allowing corporate lobbyists to write domestic policy, and weakening the common good while cementing their own power and wealth, have harmed our democracy.
The For the People Act of 2021 (HR1/S1) protects every eligible voter's right to be heard in elections and ensures elected officials and their appointees aren't beholden to the interests of anyone but us. It empowers small dollar donors by lifting restrictions that have limited how our donations can be spent. It curbs the influence of large individual and corporate donors, dark money, and foreign entities that may not have our best interests at heart.
HR1/S1 introduces publicly funded, "freedom from influence" elections. That alone helps level the playing field, allowing everyone who wants to serve to run for office and then devote themselves to governing instead raising money for their next campaign. Leaders committed to public service and the common good strengthen our democracy and improve our lives. Join us to pass legislation For the People.
