THE CRITICALLY IMPORTANT SWING STATES - It is especially important that you contact people you know that live in Swing States, (see below) FL and TX, or in Congressional District OR 5 or OR-6
Swing States and Districts
We all know how close the most critical races are this year. Every vote matters. A few simple texts, phone calls or emails can increase voter turnout. Studies show this tactic can increase turnout 8.3%!
Maybe it’s your niece in college in Pennsylvania. Or your cousin in Wisconsin that you haven’t seen since last winter. Or your neighbors in Milwaukie. We all have friends and relatives that:
Are busy juggling work, school, family, social commitments. Voting is not top of mind.
Are not “interested in politics” and “not really into voting.”
Well-intentioned but don’t have information about how to vote, or put off researching until the last minute — and then they miss the deadline.
Here’s what you can do
Make a list of people to call, text or email.
Start contacting them.
Follow up in a few days. Ask about their plan to vote.
Follow up again to make sure they got their ballot in.
That’s it!
A few points for your messages:
Communicate the importance of this election.
Provide key information about where, when, how to vote.
Remind them and help them make a voting plan.
