BACKGROUND

IThe Christian right mandate guiding Trump’s Project 2025 guts reproductive rights by eliminating or restricting access to abortion, STD testing, birth control, surrogacy, IVF, chemotherapy for fertile women, and more. Its extreme anti-choice agenda curtails options, eliminates critical research funding, and commends the use of police power to punish uncooperative healthcare providers.

Trump’s Project 2025 eliminates: 

  • Biden’s policy requiring hospitals to offer abortion in medical emergencies regardless of state laws; 

  • Protection for emergency contraceptives under the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive mandate;  

  •  FDA approval for chemical abortion drugs, based on a fictitious claim about safety;

  •  Availability of Mifepristone through the mail;

  •  NIH stem cell research projects using tissue from aborted children;

  • Any Centers for Disease Control policies perceived to be pro-abortion. 

It also calls for:

  • Reinstating Trump’s Mexico City policy barring NGOs from receiving US aid for abortion services the Biden administration rescinded;

  • Enforcing the 150-year-old Comstock Act prohibiting mailing materials used to perform abortions;

  • Restructuring Medicaid to penalize providers attempting to offer reproductive healthcare services; 

  • Reinstating Trump-era “religious and moral exemptions to the contraceptive mandate” allowing employers to deny employee coverage for contraceptives.

Trump’s Project 2025 is an aggressive attack on all reproductive and healthcare rights protected before Roe’s reversal.
