BACKGROUND

When did the GOP step backwards in time, aching for a world in which women would be forced to stay in abusive marriages, reproductive choices would be left to men, continued access to birth control would not be a given, and not even try to hide its aggressive misogyny and a fully pro-natal agenda? 

Project 2025’s Christian nationalist agenda rejecting reproductive freedom, which is reflected in Trump’s Plan 47, and the selection of J.D. Vance, MAGA’s “Menstrual Surveillance Hawk,” as V.P. make this dystopia abundantly clear. 

Concerned that medical reproductive health records might be used to criminalize the behavior of women and doctors in post- Dobbs America, HHS recently passed regulations limiting law enforcement’s access to them. 

Last Spring, when the rule was introduced to Congress, only 28 of its 535 members wrote HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to oppose it because of the perception that it protected the right to abortion by limiting cooperation with law enforcement. 

Vance was one of 8 senators who signed on against privacy, arguing that the rule would create special protections for abortion and “erase the humanity of unborn children.” In 2022, he even compared abortion to slavery and has repeatedly called for a nationwide abortion, ban, even for victims of rape and incest. “

Trump’s GOP attacks women and freedom at its core, and it must be defeated.
