THE CLIMATE CRISIS IS ON THE BALLOT

QUICK READ: The world is facing an unprecedented environmental crisis, but only the Biden Administration is committed to mitigating it. Voting for Biden in November is the only way to ensure a sustainable and healthy future.

BACKGROUND

With increasing frequency, people and the natural environment are experiencing the climate crisis’ devastating effects—soaring ocean temperatures, a record loss of Antarctic ice, the highest global temperatures in history, and an unprecedented number of hurricanes, tornadoes, forest fires, and acute droughts.

The contrast between Biden’s and Trump’s positions cannot be clearer.

Trump’s called the environmental crisis a “hoax,” and the Heritage Foundation’s  Project 2025—the road map for the next Trump administration—calls for a massive rollback of “the Biden administration’s climate fanaticism.”

President Biden, by contrast, has been the strongest guardian of the environment in our history—pushing through the Inflation Reduction Act, the most significant climate legislation the country has even seen, cutting greenhouse-gas emissions and energy costs, spurring a green energy manufacturing revolution with well-paying jobs, protecting public lands and waters, cutting energy costs for households, and pursuing environmental justice. Just last week, his Administration slashed planet warming pollution from coal-fired plants, our dirtiest energy source.

It's now or never for our environment, making this election the most important in our history. Our only chance of meeting international climate targets by 2030 is by reelecting Biden and giving him a Democratic-controlled Congress.

ACTION One: Call the Senate.

President Biden has done more to save our environment than any other President in history, but there are still massive obstacles to saving our climate, which can only be overcome by his reelection and election of a Democratic-controlled Congress. Between now and November, you must use your bully pulpit to regularly contrast the massive policy differences between the candidates, reminding voters that only the Democrats are committed to a clean energy future. In the meantime, please work to ban drilling on public lands and waters, to impose a carbon tax on luxury consumption, and to provide increased tax incentives for investors to fund the green revolution.

American voters deserve to know whether Trump is guilty of fomenting If we do not make the transition to clean energy in the near future, the climate crisis will destroy our way of life and the entire human future. As your constituent, I demand that you do everything in your power to avoid this calamity. That means that you must reject your party’s denial of reality and work towards a clean energy future, which you can begin doing by working to ban drilling on public lands and waters, to impose a carbon tax on luxury consumption, and to create tax incentives for investors to fund the green revolution. If you do nothing between now and December, I will work hard to ensure that your stay in Congress is short lived.
