ONLY DEMOCRATS SHARE OUR VISION OF A JUST AND DEMOCRATIC FUTURE

We must help Americans realize that only Democrats will improve our lives and protect our democracy so they vote for the future they want in November.

QUICK READ: Democrats were unable to the pass bills Americans want and need because they fell victim to the Senate filibuster. To create a just and democratic future, we must elect more Senate Democrats committed to eliminating the filibuster and increase the House Democratic majority. For the next two months, we, and our Members of Congress, must work tirelessly to get out the vote—phone banking, canvassing, letter- and postcard-writing—while also reminding our friends and neighbors that only Democrats can deliver the future we deserve.

BACKGROUND

Biden ran on improving the lives of all Americans, protecting democracy, and making the rich pay their fair share. While the House worked hard on these priorities, most were blocked in the Senate by Republican filibusters.

Americans, fearful about the runaway Supreme Court, elimination of abortion rights, and Trump’s and MAGA Republicans’ ongoing threats to democracy, want a Congress that works for us all.

With greater Congressional majorities, Democrats can:

  • Restore voting rights protections (HR.4)

  • End gerrymandering and make voting easier (HR.1 & HR.5746)

  • Protect democracy (HR.5314)

  • Prohibit sexual and gender discrimination (HR.5)

  • Legalize nationwide abortion access (HR.8296)

  • Protect contraception (HR.8373) and same-sex marriage (HR.8404)

  • Make lynching a federal crime (HR.55)

  • Make police accountable (HR.1280)

  • Institute universal background checks (HR.8)

  • Ban assault weapons (HR.1808) and raise gun purchase age to 21 (HR.7910)

  • Mandate equal pay for equal work (HR.2490)

  • Raise minimum pay to $15/hour (HR.603)

  • Reinstate child tax credit, make childcare affordable, modernize public housing, help first-time homebuyers, fight homelessness (HR.5376)

  • Grant D.C. statehood (HR.51)

  • Provide DACA recipients path to citizenship (HR.5376).

We, and our MoCs, must go all-out between now and November to get out the vote and to remind Americans that only Democrats will improve our lives and protect our democracy.
