ON JAN. 6, TRUMP PHYSICALLY ATTACKED HIS SECRET SERVICE DRIVER WHO REFUSED TO TAKE HIM TO THE CAPITAL
The first insider’s view of what happened on Jan. 6 came during an unscheduled meeting of the Jan. 6 Committee. She revealed stories long suspected, of Trump’s complete disregard for others’ welfare (including his own VP) that day. He didn’t even want the crowd’s weapons removed. She also described how Trump became irate, after being told his plan to go to the capitol building was too dangerous, lunging for his car’s steering wheel . As all that was unfolding, members of the Cabinet were writing letters of resignation.

BACKGROUND
Cassidy Hutchinson, age 25, was the senior assistant to Mark Meadows, Trump’s chief of staff. In a previously unscheduled hearing, she provided the clearest internal view yet of the actions of White House personnel leading up to and during the insurrection.
She testified that on Jan. 6 she witnessed:
The Secret Service warning Trump that some of those waiting to hear him were well armed and some had taken positions high in trees.
Cabinet members were preparing resignations.
Trump ordering the Secret Service to remove the weapon detection devices which were keeping heavily armed insurrectionists out of the speaker’s area so it would look full and because those people were not there to harm him.
As the rally continued, officials learned that VP Pence was a target of the mob. Later that afternoon, Trump said Pence deserved it–which Hutchinson found “unAmerican.”
As Trump’s car was pulling away from the rally, he was told he would not be going to the capital. This so incensed him that he lunged to grab the steering wheel.
Americans need to know who planned, paid for, and executed the January 6 insurrection, especially if that includes the President.
