QUICK READ: On January 6, 2021, a mob, brought to Washington by MAGA Republicans, stormed the Capitol at Trump’s behest, and attempted to stop the certification of Biden’s election. Backed up by over 140,000 documents and 1,000 witnesses, the Committee will demonstrate how Trump and MAGA Republicans engaged in a systematic, orchestrated, criminal conspiracy to subvert our democracy that began well before election night and continues until today. Understanding its breadth and depth and their subsequent misinformation campaign will help make Americans intelligent voters in 2022 and beyond.

BACKGROUND
Although, in America, voters are supposed to decide elections, the January 6 Committee’s public hearings, beginning today at 5pm, will demonstrate that Trump and MAGA Republicans engaged in a systematic, orchestrated, criminal conspiracy to overturn the results of the election Biden won by 7+ million votes.
We’ll learn in great detail how they threatened V-P Pence and paid for and helped promote the assault on our democracy that began before 2020 and continues unabated—debunking their attempts to rebrand the insurrection as “legitimate political discourse.”
These same politicians are taking away our freedom to vote and control our bodies and refusing to stop the carnage caused by guns that should be outlawed wielded by people who shouldn’t have them.
Despite being aghast as we watched events unfold on January 6, our attention isnow elsewhere. These hearings will refocus us, cementing public opposition to everyone involved in this heinous crime, holding them accountable to ensure it never happens again, and rekindling our commitment to elect and swear in only leaders who will ensure and protect our freedoms.
