DON’T LEAVE

BACKGROUND

ISSUE: After House Democrats failed to protect vulnerable renters, most of them left for their August vacation. The Senate may leave at the end of this week.

OUR MESSAGE: A cyclone of crises is moving at us fast. So, we need you to get back to work.

CRISES

  1. Climate: Global warming is obvious. Now, methane levels are soaring. It’s initiating a positive feedback loop that will speed more change and damage.

  2. Democracy: Bills designed to suppress voting by “undesirables” and rig vote-counting are being signed into law in state after state. With gerrymandering, millions will be disenfranchised in the next election allowing Republicans to recapture Congress.

  3. Truth: Conspiracy theories and other lies from leaders threaten not only democracy but millions of lives. Florida’s DeSantis is now the leading Covid threat. He ordered a ban on masks while hospitals are overflowing with Delta-variant cases.

  4. And so much more: racial equity, police reform, taxing the rich, fighting Russia, white supremacists, and restoring faith in government.

ACT: Our leaders begged us for our vote, and now we are begging them to save us . . . and themselves. Call them and tell them how important this is.

1. Call the Senate.

3. Take Action

To preserve our freedom to vote, Congress must hear from constituents across the country. Please email/text this action to 5 friends in other states – especially those in red states – and ask them to call today. Then, contact your state representatives and tell them to go to DC to support the Texas legislators who fled the state to stop voter suppression.
