VIOLENCE AGAINST ELECTION OFFICIALS AND OUR DEMOCRACY MUST STOP
Jump to today’s actions:
Background
Biden handily won the fairly conducted election. Yet Trump and his GOP collaborators continue to assault our democracy and threaten local officials for doing their jobs. His GOP ignores his dangerous rhetoric and legitimizes it, with 106 House Republicans joining a suit to overturn the election. Trump's GOP has declared warfare against democracy and especially Black voters.
Mitch’s GOP refused to convict and now to condemn Trump's:
Continuing misuse of his office for personal gain.
Criminal behavior pressuring local officials to violate their state election laws.
Filing of baseless lawsuits claiming unsubstantiated fraud and joining Texas lawsuit to overturn election results in 4 states he lost, with House Republicans and Georgia’s GOP Senate candidates' support.
Pressuring GOP MoCs to contest certified electors.
Trump’s continued evidence-free accusations of election fraud and attacks on public officials does lasting harm to public faith in our elections and incites violence by his supporters — armed mobs protesting at officials’ homes and sending them death threats.
This assault on democracy cannot continue. Congress must censure Trump and his cronies, investigate their crimes, and publicly name his collaborators. We must work to defeat Perdue and Loeffler, who support Trump's attacks on democracy.
1. Call the Senate.

Enough is enough. Trump’s assault on our democracy, the electoral process, the court system, and local officials simply doing their jobs is doing lasting harm to public faith in our elections and inciting violence by his supporters. I am calling on the Senator to continue publicly blaming Mitch’s GOP, whose silence and complicity in supporting the Texas SCOTUS lawsuit allow Trump to declare permanent warfare against both our democratic institutions and opposition voters themselves, especially non-whites. I am also asking that the Senator seek (1) a formal censure of Trump and his cronies who refuse to recognize that Biden won the electio; (2) the investigation of their election crimes; and (3) their referral to the appropriate bar associations for disbarment or other appropriate punishment.

Trump’s assault on our democracy, the electoral process, the court system, and local officials simply doing their jobs is doing lasting harm to public faith in our elections and inciting violence by his supporters. Enough is enough. I demand that the Senator, as required by his/her oath to uphold the Constitution, speak out against this anti-democratic behavior and his/her colleagues’ inexcusable silence, as Senators Toomey and Romney have, and seek a formal censure of Trump and his cronies who refuse to recognize that Biden won the election.
2. Call the House.

Enough is enough. Trump’s assault on our democracy, the electoral process, the court system, and local officials who are doing their jobs is doing lasting harm to public faith in our elections and inciting violence by his supporters. The House must:
- Censure Trump and his cronies.
- Expel the 106 House Republicans who signed on to the Texas lawsuit asking SCOTUS to throw out the votes from 4 states because the outcome wasn’t what they wanted.
- Investigate Trump and his enablers' crimes and consider appropriate remedies, including impeachment and, for those who are attorneys, referral to the appropriate bar association for disbarment or other punishment.
- Publicly blame and shame Mitch’s GOP, whose silence allows Trump to declare permanent warfare against both our democratic institutions and opposition voters themselves, especially non-whites.
