A BUDGET TO BUILD BACK BETTER
Background
A budget is a moral document, expressing our values. Biden and Harris want to build back better with COVID and economic recovery plans that include green jobs, centered in racial justice.
McConnell’s GOP has let us die from COVID rather than pass COVID relief. McConnell insists on protecting his donors with a liability shield helping companies make workers work until they get sick. Some Republicans think “we have already done enough pandemic aid.”
McConnell and his GOP refuse to pass any legislation, instead confirming scores of judges, including a new Supreme Court justice who ruled against COVID public health safety measures.
The 2021 budget and COVID relief are being negotiated in Congress now. The 2021 budget must reflect the Biden/Harris Administration’s values, with progressives at the table participating in setting priorities. COVID relief must help all in America –- not just McConnell and his donors.
We ask Congress to:
Pass a continuing resolution to fund government past the inauguration.
Work with President-Elect Biden on a 2021 budget.
Pass a COVID relief package that helps all in America.
