BACKGROUND
We overcame a pandemic and turned out in record numbers to win the White House and Congress.
Republicans and the companies that buy them know that if we keep exercising our right to vote they will lose power - so they shield insurrectionists and seek to silence us by filibustering the For The People Act (S.1).
Our calls and activism in support of S.1 gave us a victory this past week - all 50 Senate Democrats voted in favor of debating S. 1 - while the GOP chose obstruction, scared of a debate that will showcase how they are bought by billionaires and abandon their constituents.
The Congressional July 4 recess is here and we cannot let up. We must make it clear to all in Congress--Republicans and Democrats, Representatives and Senators--that the filibuster must be abolished and the For The People Act must be passed.
What happens after the Congressional recess depends on our actions over the next two weeks.
