FRIDAY RECAP: JUly 15, 2022

This week, Indivisible Oregon prioritized three issues:

1.     BUILD BACK SLIMMER. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

2.     BIDEN’S FOREIGN POLICY WINS

3.     DEMOCRATS MUST SPEED UP EXECUTIVE AND JUDICIAL CONFIRMATIONS

Although the Democrats ostensibly control both the White House and Congress, the real power in Washington is being exercised by the Senate’s MAGA Republican minority and the Supreme Court’s MAGA Republican supermajority imposed on us largely by Presidents and Senates representing only a minority of Americans.

Elections have consequences—which makes the upcoming midterms extremely important. Electing the right people will enable Congress to pass a budget that actually helps ordinary Americans, ensure that America’s foreign policy strengthens our relationships with other countries and international agencies and protects democracy abroad,  allow President Biden to continue his policy of transforming the federal courts so they work to expand, not contract, our rights, and, most of all, neutralize the ability of the Senate’s MAGA Republican minority to block the progressive legislation coming out of the House.
