FRIDAY RECAP: april 1, 2022

Read this week’s Daily Actions on the need for legislation to protect transgender and non-conforming people from GOP legislation targeting them solely to fire up their base, the duty our Members of Congress have to fight against GOP misinformation that is poisoning our democracy, how Justice Clarence Thomas’ refusal to recuse himself from hearing cases that could expose his wife’s involvement in seeking to overturn the 2020 election must be investigated and punished to protect SCOTUS’ impartiality and legitimacy. Our actions give you solid information quickly, provide ways to fight for our democracy, and even supply sample scripts for you to use when calling your Members of Congress.

One positive development is that Ketanji Brown Jackson, whose confirmation is supported by 66% of American adults, is on track to be elevated to the Supreme Court by the end of next week. When we call our Members of Congress today, we should also share with them how happy this makes us.

We also must start focusing on the 2022 midterms. We must commit to electing progressives at all levels. Action 3 of our Daily Actions provides suggestions for how to get involved in this fight for democracy, in Ukraine and here at home.

Between now and November we must keep pushing our MoCs–to pass needed legislation. We must also continue to catalog all that we have accomplished with an evenly divided Senate in which one side, the GOP mob, refuses to participate in governing for the common good.

So, no matter how often you’ve called this week, commit to calling at least once more. And whatever the script, keep stressing the need for our Members of Congress and President Biden to continue reminding voters how Dems are working every day to improve our lives.
