FRIDAY RECAP: MARCH 25, 2022
This week’s Daily Actions on ways to ease inflation’s damage, encourage Biden to bypass Republican roadblocks by executive action, and Republican racism at Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation hearing. Our actions give you solid information quickly and provide ways to fight for our democracy, even scripts if you are calling your Members of Congress.
Inflation has many causes including long-term structural supply chain issues exacerbated by the pandemic, corporate greed, and the Russian sanctions. The best short-term fix for American families is to shore up their buying power by lowering the costs of essential expenses like prescription drugs, child care, health care, and energy. Congress can do that, right now. Check out Tuesday’s Daily Action (DA) FIGHT PUTIN’S INFLATION — Indivisible Oregon
“As we face a historic crossroad in the fight to protect democracy and defeat white supremacy, it’s beyond time for Biden to use the full powers of the presidency to deliver for the people who elected him and address the interlocking crises of our times. [If not], Biden risks not only alienating his own base, but failing to stop the worst of the climate crisis while he had the chance.” Lauren Maunus, Sunrise Movement advocacy director. Check out Wednesday’s DA: BIDEN MUST USE HIS PRESIDENTIAL POWERS — Indivisible Oregon
The foundation of the Republican party was revealed this week at the confirmation hearing of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, and that foundation is deeply racist. Republicans alleged she was soft on crime and, maybe, not a loyal American. Worse, they said, she may have a plan to slip critical race theory into law.. Read all about it: RACIST REPUBLICANS ON PARADE AT SCOTUS HEARING — Indivisible Oregon.
We also must start focusing on the 2022 midterms.. We must commit to electing progressives at all levels. In the Daily Action, Action 3 provides suggestions for how to get involved in this fight for democracy, in Ukraine and here.
Between now and November we must keep pushing our MoCs–to pass needed legislation and tout all we’ve accomplished so far, despite GOP obstruction. So, no matter how often you’ve called this week, commit to calling at least once more. And whatever the script, keep stressing the need for them and President Biden to remind voters how Dems are working to improve our lives.
