***IMMEDIATE ACTION***in the wake of signal-gate, hegseth and waltz must resign [3-26-25]
On Tuesday, we learned that National Security Advisor Waltz had set up a group chat over Signal, a commercial messaging app not approved for national security use, that somehow included a reporter without security clearance, during which he, DOD Secretary Hegseth, V-P Vance, and other Cabinet members casually discussed secret war plans to attack the Houthis in Yemen on March 15.
Although, by law, government communications must be archived, using Signal was possibly an attempt to hide conversations, since it was set to erase some messages after a week and others after four weeks. Its use also may have violated the Espionage Act, which requires that information about military activity be discussed either in a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) or with approved government equipment.
Signal-Gate, Hegseth’s and Waltz’s reckless and illegal disclosure of national security secrets, puts our country and all those who serve in our military at risk and highlights the Trump Administration’s gross incompetence—putting loyalty over competence, secrecy over transparency, and militarism over diplomacy.
Their behavior, and MAGA Republicans’ refusal to condemn it, is particularly galling, given these individuals’ repeated accusations against Hillary Clinton that her use of a private email server required her firing and possibly criminal charges.
As your constituent, I demand that you call for Pete Hegseth’s and Michael Waltz’s immediate resignation. Their actions have put our country and our armed forces at risk and immediate accountability is needed. If they refuse to resign, you must call for their impeachment. Since Congress is a coequal branch of government, you must also demand Congressional oversight hearings—investigating what other operations they may have exposed, what servicemembers they may have endangered, and what records they may have destroyed.
ACTION One: Call the Senate and the House.
