***IMMEDIATE ACTION***SENATOR SCHUMER AND HIS LEADERSHIP TEAM MUST GO [3-16-25]
On Friday, 10 Senate Democrats, led by Minority Leader Schumer, Minority Whip Durbin, Chief Deputy Whip Schatz, and Sen Gillibrand, the DSCC Chair, banded together with 6 other spineless colleagues—Sens. Hassan, Cortez Masto, Fetterman, Shaheen, and King—to support passage of a 6-month continuing resolution (CR) allowing Musk and Trump to close down even more of our government for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Despite constituent calls, House Democrats’ pleas, and this CR’s extreme harm to American families, they abandoned the people they swore to represent and probably gave up Democrats’ only chance to push back against the damage Trump and Musk are causing—since Republicans will likely include the debt-limit increase in the budget reconciliation bill that’s filibuster-proof.
This CR is essentially a MAGA slush fund, full of poison pills included to satisfy those members needed for House passage:
Adding $6 billion for immigration enforcement and defense;
Cutting non-defense spending by $13 billion for Head Start, veterans’ benefits, nutrition assistance, infrastructure investments, and Social Security administration;
Cutting $1.1 billion from D.C.’s budget, forcing it to immediately fire teachers and first responders;
Removing Congress’ ability to stop Trump’s unilateral tariffs.
Their total surrender also emboldens the White House bully. Republicans now know they can get what they want without concessions, making the next bill even worse.
Senate Democrats needed to use whatever power they had to fight back, not fold. Because their leaders are clearly out of touch with what the American people want and need, they must be replaced immediately.
Thank you for standing with the American people, but I also need you to demand new leadership that will mold Senate Democrats into a true opposition force.
ACTION One: Call the Senate.
