SCOTUS AND OUR DEMOCRACY ARE ON THE BALLOT
QUICK READ: The Supreme Court is on the ballot in this election, as is the future of our democracy. To prevent MAGA Republicans from controlling SCOTUS for the next 40 years and Trump from using Project 2025 to turn America into a fascist country and to ensure the peaceful transfer of power, voters must elect Kamala Harris and give Democrats majorities in Congress. Our members of Congress must push this message repeatedly between now and November 5.
CONTENTS:
BACKGROUND
SCOTUS’ corrupt, highly unpopular 6-3 MAGA supermajority has engaged in an unprecedented, antidemocratic, right-wing power grab:
Creating an America with more mass shootings, fewer rights for marginalized communities, state-mandated prayer, less police accountability, more gerrymandered congressional districts;
Gutting reproductive and other fundamental freedoms;
Stripping the federal government’s ability to protect clean water and pure air, limit the effects of climate change, forgive student loans;
Creating a doctrine of absolute presidential immunity that will support Trump’s fascism and Project 2025.
With 4 Justices over 70, if Trump wins, he’ll pack SCOTUS with young MAGA Justices who’ll continue this trend for decades.
Only the voters can stop this power grab—by voting in Kamala Harris and Democratic Congressional majorities committed to such meaningful court reform as an enforceable Code of Ethics, term limits, Court expansion, requiring a supermajority to overturn legislation or constitutionally protected rights, timely nominee consideration, no judge shopping, and overturning rogue SCOTUS decisions.
Since the new, not the present, Congress will be certifying election results on January 6,
Democratic control is also necessary to ensure the peaceful transfer of power, given the shenanigans Trump and his MAGA allies are planning should he lose.
This message must be broadcasted continuously until November 5 so we all understand the true significance of our votes.
