TRUMP’S PROJECT 2025 FURTHER EXPOSES US TO GUN VIOLENCE
QUICK READ: Does your community want to keep loaded, hidden guns out of parks, stores, or childcare centers? If Trump’s Project 2025’s implemented, you can’t. Has your state passed universal background checks, red flag laws, and safe storage requirements? If Trump’s Project 2025 is implemented, they’ll disappear. The only way to prevent these outcomes is to keep Trump out of the White House.

BACKGROUND
We all deserve to live and raise our children in communities free of gun violence—a right slipping away since the federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004 and SCOTUS invented an individual right to keep unsecured guns in 2008.
Last week, a 14-year-old boy committed 2024’s 385th mass shooting, the 417th school shooting since Columbine in 1999. In these 25 years 383,000+ students experienced traumatizing gun violence in their schools, and many hundreds were killed or injured there. Of the 180 committed by known juveniles, 86% obtained their guns from friends, relatives, or parents.
Trump’s systematic gutting of existing laws and appointment of 200+ federal judges opposed to firearms limits—a policy he’ll continue if elected—caused greater casualties.
By 2020 guns were the leading cause of preventable death for American children, and many thousands of Americans died from the 2370+ mass shootings over the last 4 years.
Trump’s Project 2025 will increase the violence:
Arming teachers and hiring armed guards makes schools less safe;
Moving ATF from DOJ to Treasury and cutting its funding makes it harder to track illegal weapons;
Enacting concealed carry reciprocity legislation forces states with strong gun laws to allow those with violent criminal histories and no gun safety training from lax states to carry concealed guns in public, endangering everyone’s safety, especially women.
Along with introducing voters to these draconian possibilities, our MoCs must work to make our communities safer.

Instead of serving the gun lobby’s profit-driven agenda at the expense of American lives, we need to prioritize safety. America’s entirely preventable epidemic of gun violence only happens here because our government puts gun extremists’ rights over our right to live in safe communities. By wide margins, we want background checks, an assault weapons ban, safe storage laws, red flag laws, an end to the gun industry’s immunity, and no Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. In addition to alerting voters about Project 2025’s draconian gun policies, it is your job to give us these protections.
