HOW MANY SCANDALS CAN ONE SUPREME COURT CREATE?
QUICK READ: Elections have consequences. Had Trump not suppressed Stormy Daniels’ story, he might have lost the election. The three SCOTUS appointments would have been Democrats, ensuring that its Democratic supermajority would have summarily rejected Trump’s absurd claim of absolute immunity and that its reputation would not have been destroyed.
CONTENTS:
BACKGROUND
Had Trump not suppressed Stormy Daniels’ story, he might have lost the election, and SCOTUS would have a Democratic, not a MAGA, supermajority that would have protected reproductive freedom and other civil rights, the First, Second, and Fourteenth Amendments wouldn’t be turned on their heads, and Trump’s absurd claim of absolute immunity would have been summarily rejected.
Instead, SCOTUS is undergoing an unprecedented corruption crisis:
Overwhelming evidence of Thomas’ and other MAGA Justices’ receipt of unreported gifts from billionaire donors with business before the Court;
Thomas’ and Alito’s refusal to recuse themselves, as required by federal law, from cases involving Trump, the 2020 election, and the insurrection, despite ties to the election denier movement;
Its decision to slow-walk Trump’s absurd claim of absolute immunity so he wouldn’t be held accountable before the election;
Roberts’ deafening silence while public trust in the Court has spiraled downward.
SCOTUS’ refusal to police itself demands that Congress act:
Holding hearings to expose this condemnable behavior;
Pushing for stronger ethics and transparency rules by forcing votes on the SCERT Act (S.359/HR.926), the Supreme Court Offices of Ethics and Investigations Act, and the Judicial Ethics Enforcement Act (HR.8098) and on the Supreme Court Biennial Appointments and Term Limits Act (S.3096) and the Judiciary Act(S.1616/HR.3422) to curb these Justices’ continued subversive behavior.
ACTION One: Call the Senate.
Script for Oregon Senators

My name is [--] and I'm a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].
SCOTUS’ refusal to police itself demands that Congress hold hearings exposing the corruption and ethical violations of Justices Thomas, Alito, and others. Thank you for cosponsoring S.369 (the SCERT Act) and S.3096 (the Biennial Appointments and Term Limits Act), but much more is required. As your constituent, I expect you to also co-sponsor and push for a floor vote on the Senate version of HR.8098 (the Judicial Ethics Enforcement Act) and the Supreme Court Offices of Ethics and Investigations, which would create stronger ethics and transparency rules, and S.1616 (rebalancing the Court with 4 additional justices), which, along with term limits, would curb MAGA Justices’ continued subversive behavior, and to educate the American public about the important role the President and Senators play in Supreme Court appointments.

SCOTUS’ refusal to police itself demands that Congress both hold hearings exposing the corruption and ethical violations of Justices Thomas, Alito, and others and pass legislation strengthening ethics and transparency rules. As your constituent, I expect you to participate in this process, since the constitutional principle of “separation of powers” goes hand in hand with the related constitutional principle of “checks and balances,” and developing effective rules governing ethics and corruption is plainly in congressional purview.
ACTION TWO: Call the House.
