REMEMBER WHO REPUBLICANS REALLY ARE

Even as Republicans scrub unpopular policy positions from their websites, their insurrection of Jan. 6 will haunt them at tomorrow’s Congressional hearing.

QUICK READ: Republicans still worship the tyrannical tycoon who sold himself as America’s great White hope. Called by their leader, the Jan. 6 insurrectionists, who ransacked the Capitol, were physically attacking American democracy. The Jan. 6 committee will hold what may be its final meeting on the insurrection tomorrow. Tune in.

BACKGROUND

By now, memories of the armed mob laying waste to the Capitol building, attacking and murdering police officers, have mellowed by time and lies. But if Republicans don’t like an election outcome, they will still turn to intimidation and violence.

Our memories will be refreshed tomorrow as the Jan. 6 Committee holds its next hearing. Look at what the committee has already uncovered

  • On election night, Trump chose to listen to an “apparently inebriated” Rudy Giuliani and QAnon-supporter and lawyer Sidney Powell that his election had been stolen.

  • Trump put enormous pressure on Vice President Mike Pence to block Biden from becoming president.

  • Trump tweeted to his supporters to be in Washington on Jan. 6, saying: “Be there, will be wild.”

  • On Jan. 6, Trump told his armed supporters to march on the Capitol.

  • For three hours, Trump watched on television as the destruction unfolded.

  • Republicans (PA’s Scott Perry, FL’s Matt Gaetz, AZ’s Andy Biggs, TX’s Louie Gohmert and, of course, GA’s Marjorie Taylor Green) sought presidential pardons.

Tomorrow’s hearing will focus on Roger Stone who is the link between Trump and the extremist groups that stormed the Capitol.

The American value of the peaceful transfer of power is meaningless to MAGA Republicans. And that makes them unAmerican.

ACTION One: Call the Senate.

Script for Oregon Senators

SEN. MERKLEY: Portland office: 503-326-3386 | D.C. office: 202-224-3753

My name is [--] and I'm a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].

I ask that you continue to highlight who Republicans are, as they exposed themselves on Jan. 6. They are lawless and dangerous. They don’t care for elections when the majority wins. They don’t care for law and order. As they scrub their websites of unpopular positions and try to sound like normal human beings, Republicans are ready to fight for the outcome they want but didn’t get. But in America, majority rules – until it is overthrown.
