SCOTUS Is Using The Constitution to Reinforce White Supremacy, Patriarchy, and Heteronormativity
The Right Has Hijacked America: Recent SCOTUS Rulings Impact BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Women with Disproportionate Destructiveness
QUICK READ: A recent set of judicial rulings concerning gun control, reproductive freedom, and the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) as well as several cases set to be heard next year about voting rights and affirmative action all negatively impact or outright attack the freedoms of BIPOC and women in the US.
TAKE ACTION NOW:
BACKGROUND
“How can [a] set of laws still guide a nation” asks Candice McDuffie, a writer for the Root, “when it was concocted by white men who looked at Black people as property and not as human?”
A recent set of judicial rulings concerning gun control, reproductive freedom, and the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) as well as several cases set to be heard next year about voting rights and affirmative action all negatively impact or outright attack the freedoms of BIPOC and women in the US.
Moreover, overturning Roe refutes the 13th and 14th Amendments abolishing slavery and compulsory pregnancy thereby erasing Black women from the Constitution and demonstrating “indefensible disregard for the lives of women, girls, and people capable of pregnancy,” UC Irvine professor law, Michele Goodwin, wrote in the NY Times.”
Many believe the court “could be aiming its legal firepower at everything from contraception access to LGBTQ+ rights.”
In the space of ten days, SCOTUS will have rewritten “as much American law as any Congress or presidency in recent memory” despite the slow-moving pace set by the court over 200+ years.
Gun violence, inadequate access to reproductive care, and EPA restrictions impact low-income people and BIPOC for various reasons including the impact that gun violence has on communities of color; a lack of health care access for women of color in particular; and the reality that BIPOC are disproportionately victimized by environmental hazards.

The GOP is using SCOTUS to push an ultra-conservative agenda. We need court reform and we need you to use your bully-pulpit to address these egregious rulings loudly. They do not represent what most Americans want and they were made by justices appointed by GOP Presidents who won the popular vote just once in 30 years.
