THE GOP IS SABOTAGING UKRAINE

A small but growing group of Congressional Republicans is eroding America’s pledge to defend democracy in Ukraine.

QUICK READ: Biden’s finest moment as President has been his leadership in supporting Ukraine and enlisting countries in economic warfare against Russia. It is an enormous and dangerous commitment to democracy. Unfortunately, that’s being challenged in Congress by a growing number of Republican obstructionists. Is Ukraine about to become the next fabricated culture war battleground?

TAKE ACTION NOW:

BACKGROUND

America has long exported democracy. Today, America is defending it in Ukraine. If successful, America’s support will prevent the past from becoming the future.

A growing number of MAGAs in Congress, however, are not committed to supporting Ukraine’s democracy.

When the first pro-Ukraine bill was voted on in the House, three Republicans opposed it, and Trump rewarded one with a primary endorsement. This month, 57 MAGA Republicans opposed another pro-Ukrainian bill.

The insurrection has since spread to the Senate, where Sen. Rand Paul blocked the latest $40 billion Ukraine bill. When a vote was allowed, 11 Republicans opposed it.

The stated reasons for their opposition range from fighting inflation to squawking (but doing nothing) about the lack of baby formula. Tucker Carlson also shames Republicans who vote to support Ukraine, which is the fuse that can inflame the faithful.

To President Biden, Putin is “a war criminal” whose list of crimes against humanity includes the mass murder of civilians, the rape of children, and, probably, genocide.

At home and abroad, we have to fight to save democracy.
