“rome wasn’t burned in a day,” but revoking roe is a start
Ultra-conservative legal scholars’ goal has long been to return America to its view of morality. Reversing Roe would be an enormous step in that direction.
QUICK READ: Conservative evangelicals have engaged in decades of cultural battles and often lost. But one of their many crusades has been to insert enough like-minded Justices to capture the Supreme Court. Trump gave them three and solidified ultra-conservative, even biblical-tinged rule. If the Court reverses Roe, overruling decades of precedent and even massive public opinion, the future of our culture, politics, race relations, poverty programs, and climate will be dictated by a handful of unelected, untruthful, and unaccountable Christians.

BACKGROUND
The confidence Americans have in the Supreme Court has collapsed since Trump’s election. It was further upended last week when a draft decision leaked the Court’s view that women do not control their own bodies.
It is confirmation that Trump’s ultra-conservative Supreme Court intends to return the country to the 1950s. And little can stop them.
Reversing Roe would be a historic redirection of the country, engineered by a small group of Christian nationalists who have for decades been subverting democracy. They are set on two goals:
Rule by the minority, because their goals would never win a majority of voters.
Public confirmation that America is a Christian country.
If the new Roe opinion directly undermines the right to privacy, it foretells a reversal of personal freedoms once thought legally immutable.
We can’t lose our country to religious radicals like Texas politicians who are debating whether those involved in abortions should get the death penalty.
To stop this invasion, we need:
Massive voter turnout this November to elect Democrats.
End of the filibuster that has given minority Republicans the power to control legislation.
Reform of the Supreme Court, including making lying to a confirmation committee an impeachable offense.
