THE CARBON POLLUTERS’ SENATOR (D-WV) IS SINGLE-HANDEDLY KILLING THE PLANET
Paid-for politicians do their donors’ bidding even if this requires trashing programs people need and want and sacrificing our planet.
QUICK READ: Sen. Joe Manchin, drenched in fossil fuel money, is intent on blocking the most significant climate change bill in history and our last, best chance to slow the coming devastation. We cannot sit back and let him and industry donors destroy the planet.
TAKE ACTION NOW:
BACKGROUND
Voters grant politicians power so they can make our lives better.
Biden’s Build Back Better (BBB) bill does that by investing in families. It’s also our best chance to save the planet.
BBB, including its climate provisions, is wildly popular with everyone but Republican politicians.
Shockingly, Democratic Senator Joe Manchin is also opposed--especially to the $150 billion Clean Electricity Payment Program (CEPP), which provides incentives for utilities to switch to clean energy and penalizes those that don’t.
Manchin’s opposition could kill the entire bill. Without CEPP, the US will fall far short of its international climate pledges and doom the planet.
The fossil fuel industry is fighting to protect the $649 billion subsidies for coal, oil and gas, that boost the wealth of industry executives and shareholders.
It’s no coincidence Manchin vigorously defends the dirty energy industry. Since he’s been in Congress, it’s “donated” over $2.3 million to his campaigns.
And he owns as much as $5 million in a coal brokerage firm, earning him $500,000 in 2020 alone.
This greed must stop. Call your Members of Congress to save the planet for your children, their children, and generations to come.
