STOP GOP ELECTION SABOTAGE
Crush minority rule, pass the For the People Act, save democracy.

BACKGROUND
Issue: The Republican war on democracy is now sabotaging America’s elections by suppressing voters of color and rigging vote counting.
News: The For the People Act (FTPA), which would nullify state voter suppression laws for federal elections, is scheduled for a vote in the Senate today.
Why it matters:
The GOP has been passing bills in statehouses to block certain voters.
Fourteen states have already enacted racist voter suppression laws and hundreds more bills are working through legislatures.
The nationwide, coordinated attack on voting rights is financed by billionaires concerned that the FTPA would plug their pipeline of dark money that buys officials.
Far more quietly, in red states the GOP is transforming the nonpartisan election system so they can:
Determine which ballots to count.
Establish mechanisms, to “institute corrective action,” to overturn results.
Control or replace Secretaries of State.
The GOP’s last weapon to defend their minority rule is to freeze the Senate’s legislative process with a filibuster.
Take action: Call your MOCs to (1) ask that they amend the FTPA to ensure transparent and trustworthy election results, (2) demand they pass FTPA to ensure equal access for voting, and (3) kill the filibuster to end minority rule.
1. Call the Senate.

I fully support the For the People Act but it should be amended to stop the GOP from sabotaging the current nonpartisan election infrastructure so they can produce the outcomes they want.

The GOP’s war on democracy, now focused on sabotaging our elections, is traitorous. If you care about democracy, you should object and make public the GOP actions to limit voting and rig vote counting.
2. Call the House.

Thank you for your support of the For the People Act. Unfortunately, it needs to be amended. State GOP legislators are considering bills and enacting laws designed to take over the nonpartisan election system to produce the results they want. The House needs to develop an amendment to the FTPA to nullify those GOP laws for federal elections.
